Social Studies Topic: Greek Mythology

One of my favourite Social Studies topic is Greek mythology. I find Greek mythology interesting because it includes a lot of different stories about lots of different Gods. There are Gods for water, the sky, death, love, the moon, the sun, etc. The way that I found about Greek mythology was when I started to read Percy Jackson. It is about a boy who is the child of a human and a Greek God.

Some famous Greek Gods are Zeus, who is the God of the sky, Poseidon, the god of the sea, and Hades, the god of the underworld. One popular story is about Medusa. It is said that she used to be a incredibly beautiful maiden. Everyone was jealous of how great she was. One day, when Poseidon was caught raping her in Athena's temple. Athena (Goddess of Wisdom) was so mad that she punished Medusa by turning her hair into snakes and making her face so terrible that anybody who looked at her would be turned into stone. Medusa was finally killed by the hero Perseus, who was sent to fetch her head.
