Basketball Blog

Basketball Blog

This past Friday and Saturday the competitive boys basketball team had a tournament at St.Pauls. We started strong beating Christ the king and also beating IHMS getting us to the finals against St. Emile. It was a really close game ending at a score of 68-64 in St. Emile favor. They won the tournament leaving us in second place but hope to come back and win the regular season probably against St. Emile.

Overall the team is doing really well with a 5-0 record and hope to continue it today against IHMS again away, at their court. (Come watch and support us) We hope to finish the season being undefeated and also winning the banner for our school.

Gym- Surafel

In Gym Class, were finishing up our basketball unit. This basketball unit we learned many skills that are really basic. Some of the skills are passing, dribbling, shooting, lay ups, and rebounding. We learned how to play the game and did a test on it. The test was very easy if you played the sport before in an organized matter.

Basketball is an awesome sport and is very easy to play. All you need is a basketball, some shoes, a hoop, and you can play the game!

Science

In science class right now we are working on the parts of a microscope and how they work, systems of the body and human disorders. We are to be working on posters for a certain human disorder with a partner, my partner is Tyger and we are doing Tourettes syndrome.

Last week we went to the science lab and worked with the microscopes while we filled out booklets with questions about the microscope. We have a quiz tomorrow on microscopes, systems and blood components.

Camp Arnes

Camp Arnes is coming up in a few days and everyone is looking forward to it. The activities we are doing are ice fishing, cross country skiing, swimming, snow shoeing and hockey. There are five different rooms people are staying in. My room is Surafel, Partiq, and Ranshika.

We will leave on Thursday at 5:30 and get back to school at 7:30 on Sunday. We wake up at 7:30 and go to bed at 12:00 but that probably isn’t going to happen.

Competitive boys basketball team

                                                Competitive Boys Basketball Team

This year our team consists of Myself, Patrick, Mark, Vince, Howie, Shane, Surafel, Noah.M, Carter, Lato, Derrick and Savath. In addition, our coaches were Patrick’s dad and Howie’s dad. This year our team was starting strong having a series of 3-0 making us unbeatable. Our top scorers’ on our team were Mark, Patrick and Vince.

The first game that we have was at St. Emile and we came out with the win 59-49. We all contributed in the game and everyone putted in a team effort to make this a win. At the second game we were versing Linden Christian at our home court and we won 83-16. we putted in solid defence making it impossible for them to get by us. In this game, we were unstoppable, making consistent passes and shots, we just kept scoring and scoring making it a big margin lead for us. Our third game was just like the second game, but even better. We were starting off in the first quarter scoring points in bunches making it a big lead and then we kept on scoring from that point on.

Egypt

On February 4th we went to the Manitoba Museum to see the mummy Pesed. While we were at the museum we also learned about Egypt from the information provided at the exhibit. We all had a chance to mummify a carrot, learn to write in hieroglyphics, and make our own amulet. We also got to see a show in the planetarium about Egypt. The field trip was an introduction to Egypt. Our next unit in Social Studies will be on Egypt.

Mya- Math

Integers

In math class, we recently started a new unit on Integers. Ms. Andrews expects us to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers. So far, we only started adding and subtracting them. The rule for adding is: when the integers are different you subtract the smaller number by the bigger number and keep the integer of the bigger number. If they are the same you add normally. A rule to help you with subtracting is KFC. This stands for "keep", "flip", and "change". You just change the last number and add instead. Soon, we will be starting multiplication and division.
