On
October 30, 2013 the Social Justice Committee went to We Day. We saw
many motivational speakers and one speaker , Molly Burke was amazing.
Molly is blind and was being bullied for it. Molly told us this very
interesting story. This was the end of the year trip she had already
lost her friends to bullying and now she thought it would change. They
went to Ottawa and her "friends" forgot that she was there, so she had
to sleep on a cot. The girls said that they would do her hair and her
makeup on her birthday. She thought that they were putting mousse in her
hair and doing her makeup. She knew she just knew that flash of when
someone took a picture of her. She realised later that instead of saying
the words to her they wrote it on her with looser written across her
head and they also put whipped cream in her hair. She thought that the
picture wasn't that bad until she got back to the school and it had
spread all through Facebook. She was so outraged and she told the
teacher and they worked together to get through it. We Day was so amazing and this year I hope we can go next year.
